Getaria

It is a small coastal town that has become the epicenter of Basque gastronomy along with San Sebastian. Thanks to its fish and seafood restaurants that cook in the traditional way with charcoal fire.
It is also known for having the largest concentration of “txakoli” wineries in the world!
Txakoli is the traditional local wine.

But Guetaria also has historical relevance worldwide as it is the birthplace of Juan Sebastian Elkano. First man to circumnavigate the roundness of the globe. The church that is still standing is the church where this historical character was baptized in the 15th century.
